Date of Trip: January 2020
Number of Days: 3
Who went: Jenn & Anna (Girls trip!)
When Anna and I were planning our trip to Norway to see the Northern Lights we decided we wanted to fit in a second stop in Europe. Neither of us had been to Switzerland before, plus it fit into our "Winter Adventure" theme. So, we headed to Zurich to see what trouble we could get into.
We really only spent 2 days in Switzerland, and it was barely enough to scratch the surface. I can't wait to go back and truly explore this beautiful place.
Day 1 - Travel to Zurich
It took us the entire day to get to Zurich (through Heathrow). We arrived around 8P and took a pre-booked transfer to the hotel (A must for me when ever I travel internationally. After a long flight the last thing I want to try to figure out is a taxi/Uber in a foreign country).
We stayed at the Zurich Marriott. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Definitely recommend. We arrived hungry, and had dinner at White Elephant (a Thai restaurant in the Marriott), it was fast and delicious!

Day 2 - Zurich
We slept in the next day and spent a leisurely afternoon strolling around Zurich. It's a beautiful city - we both agreed we needed to come back and spend more time!

We had dinner and drinks at the beautiful Jules Verne Panorama Bar.
Zurich has a beautiful Opera House, and we thought it would be fun to catch a show while in town.

We saw the Magic Flute. The show was in German - and even though the website claims there would be English subtitles - there were not. This made it difficult to follow. And while the music and performance were stunning, the show itself was clearly trying to make a social statement that we didn't quite understand. We both left the show feeling like we had missed out on the punchline. It was... an experience.

Day 3 - Lucerne & Titlis
We knew we wanted to get out of the city, but with such a short time in Switzerland knew we couldn't do it on our own. This bus tour to Lucerne and Mount Titlis was a perfect day trip.

We started with a stop in Lucerne for photos and lunch. This is a beautiful place, there is no question you could spend a couple of days enjoying what it has to offer.

We continued on to the cable car that took us to the top of Mount Titlis (the only publicly accessible glacier in the area). Riding up was an amazing and beautiful experience!

We stopped half way to enjoy some snow tubing!

We then continued on to the top... it's simply hard to describe the beauty of Mt. Titlis. It must be experienced to be understood.

Here we found Europe's highest suspension bridge - The Cliff Walk! Only slightly terrifying, the bridge offered unparallel views and an amazing experience.

We stopped our way down the mountain for some tasty hot toddies before heading back to Zurich.

We had worked up an appetite, and knew we had to try some fondue while in Zurich. This meal goes down as one of the highlights of the trip... it was spectacular. (same day reservations only - before 430PM!)

We ended the day at the beautiful Kronenhalle Bar (on the list of World's Best Bars). It was a great end to a great day.
We were up early the next day to continue our Winter Adventure in Norway!
